Friday Finishes

I've had a pretty productive week finishing up some custom orders!

I had fun putting together this custom palette of navy, yellow and red to match a customer's nursery.

I also made my first flag bunting. I used a triangle ruler to cut the flags, stitched them wrong sides together, pinked the edges, and sewed them to a strip of bias.

I finally got a chance to play with Patti Sloniger's new line for Michael Miller fabrics, Les Amis. Just like Backyard Baby, these cottons are so soft and silky to work with.

I also made a matching stroller blanket..

...pillow cover, and burp cloth.

All of these items are on their way to their new homes, but I have listed made-to-order versions of the Les Amis quilts in my Etsy shop.

More Scrappy Trip Along Fun

I made a few more scrappy trip-along blocks -- I couldn't help myself!

I love the way these are coming together!

"Bliss-ful" Sewing Saturday

Since this is the first weekend in more than a month that I haven't been consumed by custom orders to finish, I decided to play with some projects that had been on the back burner for a while.

First, I managed to get my Bliss Granny Squares sewn into a quilt top -- I just need to complete the border!

After that, I gave myself permission to finally be sucked into the scrappy-trip-along craze that has been sweeping the web. I've decided to make mine mostly out of Bonnie and Camille's fabric collections -- I totally fell in love with Camille's version.

They truly are addictive! I'm dying to make some more, but laundry and custom orders are calling, so they will have to wait!

As it happens, I think both of these quilts will end up living with me -- they will match the new paint in the bedroom perfectly!

Finish it Up Friday

Over the weekend, I managed to wrap up 4 custom orders that had been in-progress, and I sent them off to their new homes on Monday. Since several were remakes of previous quilts, I forgot to get pictures of them, but here is a quick shot I took of three of them (from the top, Vroom, Backyard Baby and Neptune).

The fourth finish was for a customer who had sent me a photo of a quilt she had received for her first daughter, wanting to know if I could recreate it for her second daughter (the person who made it originally is no longer in business). The original was made out of Kate Spain's first line for Moda, Verna, of which I happened to have a little stash!

I've used Minky on the backs of quilts before, but never as a border. I found it both a little frustrating, but also "forgiving" in terms of the overall finished product. I did add some Warm and Natural batting, and quilted it with straight lines so that the layers would stay together in the wash. I'm happy to report that the customer actually liked it better than the original!

My last finish of the week doesn't look like a finish, but it is to me! I am the chairperson of my guild's block of the month program, and this week, I finally finished making the rest of the sample blocks for the year, and cutting the fabric for the kits (the program runs through May, but I like to work ahead as much as possible).

I stopped at the local quilt store on Wednesday to pick up some sashing, border and backing-- I'll be sure to share a pic once it's done! I am loving the color scheme!

Big Finish, Little Finish

This week, I have two finishes to share:

Big Finish: A 60 x 120 Arcadia quilt (over 1900 pieces!) for an Etsy customer.

Little Finish: A scarf (made out of leftover Honey Honey strips) for me!

I love them both!
