March Finishes!

Here is this month's collage of finished quilts!
I enjoy looking back to see everything I accomplished each month! Most of these finishes are custom orders, but I am almost caught up -- finally!

A Little Furry Help

The other day, I laid out some blocks for a custom order. I wasn't sure I liked the arrangement and mix of colors. Apparently, someone else didn't like the arrangement either.

Much better!

Another Custom Order!

Here is another March finish to add to the list:

My customer had purchased some Birch organic fabrics, including a faux patchwork panel, and she wanted them made into a quilt. I was a little nervous about cutting up the patchwork panel and piecing it into the quilt since the printed squares don't allow for seam allowances, but I was able to make it work.

It turns out the printed squares are slightly wider than they are long -- I think I ended up cutting blocks that were 8 1/4 by 8 1/2 inches, but it still worked! We chose a teal border to frame the center, and a cuddly minky backing.

I have to say, I do really like the way this turned out, so I may have to play around with the concept more in a future quilt!

Here Fishy Fishy

It's no secret that I love tumbler quilts, so when I had some leftover fabric from a custom quilt that used the Here Fishy Fishy fabric collection by Heather Mulder Peterson, it didn't take me long to whip out the Accuquilt and cut out a set of tumblers!

I love the combination of colors in this collection!

I also made use of some scraps on the back. I thought it tied it nicely with the front, and it left me with no scraps to store!

Hometown Stars

Another favorite finish from the past month was this Hometown Stars quilt. Although this fabric collection is extremely hard to find in precuts, I've managed to hoard a bit of it so I can make at least a couple more of these for the shop.

In fact, I've hoarded so much Sweetwater fabric that I think it's time to make a quilt combining several of their collections! I have some ideas floating around in my head, and I'm looking forward to playing with them!

Another Finish

As promised, I'm spending this week catching up on some recent finishes. This next one is a remake of a quilt I designed last year for a colleague. I used a Riley Blake collection by Bo Bunny called "On The Go". To make the appliqué airplane and cloud patterns, I used a photocopier to enlarge images from the airplane border fabric.

One of my favorite parts is the striped binding. I love a striped binding! Unfortunately, I only got one decent photo of the quilt before it was sent off -- wish I had more close ups of the center to share!

Catching Up

March has been a pretty bad blogging month. I've been very busy with an unusually large amount of custom orders, so although I've had plenty to blog about, I haven't had much time to actually blog!

I've decided to spend the next few days catching up and blogging about some of this month's finishes. This one is a favorite! The fabric is an older Fig Tree Quilts collection called Butterscotch and Rose. It was requested by my customer, and I thoroughly enjoyed sewing with it!

I used my When The Stars Align pattern, although I did a little twist on the pattern variations. My customer loved both the "planned" and the "scrappy" versions, so I managed to combine them by making the eight points of each star in different fabrics.

I'll be back tomorrow with another finish from this month!
